There's a long story surrounding the interplay of literature and science (some of which Laura will tell), but a favorite example of mine is Roald Hoffman. In addition to being a Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, he is quite an accomplished poet and writer, author of five or six volumes of poetry and a number of books. I have read and really enjoyed his book of essays "The Same and Not the Same".
You can read many of his poems (plays, etc.) on his website: http://www.roaldhoffmann.com/home
